War has spread out all over the world. It started in Europe. My home country has been overthrown by Germany and while participating in the world war, Japan is in its second Sino-Japanese War with China. The war is now here in Asia. Japan announced that it will be invading Indochina due to the fact that Indochina is providing China with arms and fuel (such a great excuse for its unquenchable thirst for power). Currently, the newspaper reports say that soldiers are in a battle in Lang Son and Lang son is only 92 miles away from Hanoi.Yes, Hanoi.... the city where I live. My neighbors are screaming, crying and trying to escape. Some suggested that I leave too but where would I go? Back to France? or where Alex is? Certainly I have no choice but to stay. I remember a couple years ago one of my good friends (who is a photographer) showed me pictures of people who were going through war and told me a stories about people. She told me about a girl in Nanking, China and how she was going through so much poverty and so much pain at such a young age because of Japan. At that time, I did feel sympathy for her but never imagined the same thing would happen to me. But, here I am, wanting to deny that the bloody Japanese are only miles away from where I live ready to blow up everything however, the reality is.... they are here ... and I certainly don’t know what to do. So far, from what I hear from Alex is that he also seems to be in a similar situation. I guess maybe even worse since he’s the one who’s actually physically fighting the Japanese. I hope that things will become resolved. I hope I can escape from this total chaos.
